 Refuse & Recycling Collection Information

Refuse Collection:

Refuse collection is held weekly, on Monday and Tuesday.  Refuse containers should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m.  Refuse is defined as normal household trash. Plaster, demolished ceiling, earth, gravel, brick and other building debris is not considered refuse.  The Town will collect one container of trash, either one regular trash bag or one trash barrel, per week from every household.  Bags or barrels may not be larger than 36 gallons and may not weigh more than 50 pounds or they will not be collected.  Additional trash must be placed in an official Town trash bag, sold at Crosby's, Dawson's and Richdale's on Route 97 (sold as 5 bags for $8.75).  Each household may also place one bulky item curbside per week.

Please remember to place your recyclables out by 7:00 a.m. along with your regular trash.  Recycle is always every other week.

Place all recyclables in the bin provided (recycle bins are available at the Town Hall - one per household - extra bins are $8.00).  No need to sort.  If you have more recyclables than will fit in the bin, place them in a suitable container which can be readily identified by the collectors.

Residents are encouraged to compost grass clippings and leaves.  For further information about the collection of trash and/or recycling, please call the Wenham Town Hall at 978-468-5520 ext. 4 or ext. 6.
