Mission:
The Building Department is responsible for enforcing the following codes:
- 2015 International Building Code (IBC) with MA Amendments
- 2015 International Residential Code (IRC)
- 2015 International Existing Building Code (IEBC)
- 2015International Mechanical Code (IMC)
- International Energy Conservation Code (IECC)
- International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC)
- 2021 NEC Chapter 12 with MA Amendments (527 CMR)
- 248 CMR: Plumbing and Fuel Gas Code
- and portions of the 2015 International Fire Code (IFC) with MA Amendments
- and the Wenham Zoning Bylaw
The Ninth Edition of the building code applies to all building permits filed on or after January 1, 2018.
Building, Electrical and Plumbing Permits are issued and all construction inspections are processed through this office. See link to E-Permitting below. Guidelines for E-Permitting can be found on the left hand navigation.
E-Permitting
Wenham is utilizing the Accela Civic Platform for online permitting. Please be sure to review the fee schedule and call with any fee calculation questions prior to submitting the permit. Permits submitted without the appropriate fee will be delayed until the fee is paid in full. Please direct fee questions to 978-468-5520 ext. 4. Please remember to submit the total estimated cost of your project in the appropriate section so your fee can be invoiced to you promptly.
